Lasting Lips!

Hello Everyone! I wanted to share with you a trick I use to make my lipstick last all night. This post comes from someone who approached me with a lipstick dilemma last week. One comment I hear often from ladies when it comes to lipstick "It doesn't stay put" The truth is that if you're going out to dinner or a party where you will be eating and drinking, there is no way your lips will look perfect all night. But you can help them stay longer by following these tips.

Step One: Line your lips. Be sure to use a lip pencil that is close to the color of your lipstick. The lip liner I chose is actually more pink than the lipstick. Depending on the formulas of the products you use and how you apply the lipstick, it may bleed and change the color of your lipstick, so be aware and maybe test it out before the big night. Also, this is the time to make edits. If you would like fuller lips, draw them on. Not sure how far to go? Use your natural lip as a guide, draw just outside the natural lip instead of inside.
Step Two: Fill it in. Yes, I said fill it in. This will create a nice base for the lipstick.

Step Three: Apply the lipstick. Then blot with a tissue. Then re-apply. I chose to use a lip brush, because it gives me more control. But if you're comfortable with just using the tube, by all means. Be sure to take the lipstick with you, so that you can touch up if necessary after dinner.

There it is! I hope everyone enjoyed my tips on how to make your lipstick last longer! If you have any comments, or would like help solving a beauty problem, let me know! See you next time!

Hi Everyone! Sorry I missed my post last week, I was moving. I still owe you one ;) I had hoped to do some behind the scenes shots of a project I'm currently working on, but it didn't exactly work out the way that I'd hoped. SO I thought I'd post some photos of one the first of many collaborations with Photographer Gillian Fournier.  You can see more of her work here, http://www.gillianfournier.com/ The first shot is of the Villain and the second is with his victim the songbird. I always love to hear your thoughts! Talk to you soon!

Hey everyone! Today I want to talk about a new product I'm really excited about! It's the new 5-in-1 creme eyeshadow from Bare Minerals. I think this is going to be a trendy and popular item for a little while or at least for fall. Lets start with how easy it is to use, the formula is really velvety and you can also smudge it out for a smokey effect. It also has SPF 15, which is a bonus in my book. It works as a primer and has brightening effects over time. I however, don't use it daily and haven't been using it long enough to vouch for that particular benefit. My favorite way to use it is as a base, layering other eyeshadows over, but with the color peeking through underneath. I'm currently using "Divine Wine" I can't wait to get my paws on "Soft Shell". I also want to talk about the value! It's only $18.00 for .10 oz, which should last for quite a while because you don't need a ton of it. It also comes in a variety of colors which I'll post below. I feel this product would meet the needs of almost anyone, especially someone who doesn't have a lot of time to get ready. Or if you're looking to limit the number of products you use. I personally don't use eye primer, I use the extra foundation or concealer that's leftover from my makeup brush. I expect this will change as I get older and develop more fine lines and wrinkles on my eyelids, I may be looking for a product like this. So if fine lines and wrinkles are also one of your concerns, I suggest giving it a go too. Well there you have it! My take on this product. I'd like to know if any of you have tried it, what did you think!? leave your comments below! See you next week!

Hi Everyone! This is one of my favorite looks! This is my 40's inspired look. I always do a matte lip when doing a 40's makeup. Today I decided to go with a bright pink lip, I felt it was more daytime appropriate and it reminds me of my grandmother, she always wore a fuchsia lip. You can also use pink if you want a softer look for nighttime, instead of a bright red lip. For the rest of the makeup I used both blush and bronzer, but very little, since you are doing bright lips and bold eyeliner it's important that you don't overdo the rest of your face. The eyeshadows I used were matte colors as well, except my highlight, it had a little shimmer. I didn't use fake lashes, but you can add them if you want some extra oomph. Thanks for reading! See you next week!
