BRAAAINS!!!

Happy Thanksgiving! I wanted to share a zombie makeup I did last week. The purpose of this makeup was to try out a new method to create rotting skin using liquid latex and quick oats. It was going well until the oats expanded. Then I needed more liquid latex and ran out, so I worked with what I had going. The oats continued to expand after I applied them, so lesson learned, a little oats go a long way. I have two different versions, I had one with more rotting skin and boils, and one with more blood, I'm not sure which one I like more. Thoughts?

Who Loves Mascara!?

I don't know how often I hear from gals "all I do is swipe on some mascara and go". I wanted to share a little slice of history on how mascara was applied from it's modern day re-invention in 1913, to what we now recognize as mascara today. It used to come in the form of a cake, sorry ladies! One shade only! You would moisten the brush and comb it onto your lashes. The invention of the mascara tube and wand didn't come about until the 1960's, when they started mixing the pigment with lotions and wax. It offered convenience, more control of the product and less mess! As you can imagine it didn't take long to catch on! cosmetics have been used as part of daily life in almost every culture going as far back as the Ancient Egyptians. I will post more about that later, so much history, so little time. In the second picture is a vintage ad, showing how much Maybelline's eye products can change your look. At this time, women were using brown pencils, face powder, blush and lipstick as part of their everyday look. I hope you all enjoy!

Halloween Makeup

Hi Everyone!

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted. I meant to post in time for Halloween, this year time was tight for my costume so I decided to go as a sugar skull. This was my first attempt at a classic sugar skull makeup. I did want to do a little more, but I ran out of time before I had to go to work. I didn't wanted something that was kid friendly, since I was going to be working with children that night. So I'll have to post my scary zombie makeup later :) I also ended up adding pink lips that were about the same color as my nose. I'll see if I can find one of those pictures too. Hope you enjoy!

See you next time!
