I don't know how often I hear from gals "all I do is swipe on some mascara and go". I wanted to share a little slice of history on
how mascara was applied from it's modern day re-invention in 1913, to what we now
recognize as mascara today. It used to come in the form of a cake, sorry ladies! One shade only! You would moisten the brush and comb it onto your lashes. The invention of the mascara tube and wand
didn't come about until the 1960's, when they started mixing the pigment with lotions and wax. It offered convenience, more control
of the product and less mess! As you can imagine it didn't take long to
catch on! cosmetics have been used as part of daily life in almost every culture going as far back as the Ancient Egyptians. I will post more about that later, so much history, so little time. In the second picture is a vintage ad, showing how much Maybelline's eye products can change your look. At this time, women were using brown pencils, face powder, blush and lipstick as part of their everyday look. I hope you all enjoy!
